New highrise community is coming to Surrey City Centre
It was some 10 years ago when BlueSky Properties began to invest in real estate in a specific Lower Mainland neighbourhood, certain the area would grow enormously in the years ahead.
Surrey City Centre, which bills itself as “B.C.’s emerging downtown core,” is at the heart of what is expected to be the province’s most populous city within a couple of decades. It’s home to a new city hall, a vibrant civic plaza, a Bing Thom-designed library, three SkyTrain stations, Surrey Memorial Hospital — the biggest in the Fraser Health Authority — and educational institutions that include Simon Fraser University, Kwantlen Polytechnic University and Douglas College. Just last fall, UBC announced it had also purchased property for a future campus.
